  • New cyberattack spreads across Europe, hits Rosneft, Maersk

Rosneft says oil production and preparation processes have not been affected.

Affected in Russian Federation are Rosneft, Bashneft, Mars, Nivea and Mondelez, the worldwide producer of Alpen Gold chocolate. The remaining 2% will remain with the Ruia founders.

This deal would also give Rosneft an extra 20% in output for the next year, with the company spending massive amounts of money in order to boost its profitability after the production cut deal with Saudi Arabia expires in March 2018.

The cyberattack targeted a number of oil, telecommunications and financial companies in Russian Federation and Ukraine, blocking computers and demanding 300 USA dollars in bitcoins, Group-IB told Russia's Prime news agency.

Access to Rosneft and its subsidiary Bashneft's websites is unavailable for the moment as a result of the attack.

A massive cyberattack via a ransomware virus dubbed Petya has paralyzed dozens of businesses in Ukraine and neighboring Russian Federation, dpa cited state news agencies as reporting Tuesday.

Moscow-based cyber security firm Group IB said hackers had exploited code developed by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) which was leaked and then used in the WannaCry ransomware attack that caused global disruption in May.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko said the government's computer network had gone down as well and posted a picture on Twitter of a computer screen with an error message.

Nevertheless, the latest wave of cyberattacks also seem to have become global. There was no immediate comment from Sistema on the reported cyber attack.
