  • Still bleeding Sam Kanizay's wounds were still seeping blood on Sunday afternoon while doctors tried to work out what

Image SourceSam Kanizay, a 16-year-old teenager, chose to soak his legs at the Dendy Street Beach after a long football match. It took nearly a day to stop the blood flow - Sam went to wet his legs at the beach at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, and the bleeding stopped on Sunday afternoon, he told Fairfax.

His family believe sea lice were eating the flesh on his legs.

According to the Guardian Australia, Sam's dad said that once they got Sam's legs cleaned up, the bleeding would start immediately again and so they went straight to hospital.

Jarrod Kanizay, the teen's father, chose to take the investigation into his own hands, dropping a chunk of raw steak in water near the location of his son's attack.

A marine biologist told The Age that sea lice were a possibility but a local swimmer said that a sting ray might also have been a culprit.

Dr Poore said it was unusual to get "attacked to that level" by sea lice.

One nurse advised the bites could be from sea lice, but it was no more than a "guess".

Sam is likely to be released from the hospital on Monday noon. A pool of blood was formed on the floor at the hospital when his legs were wiped.

Mr Kanizay returned to the beach on Sunday with a pool net full of raw meat to bait the creatures.

"I wasn't really thinking about being eaten".

'Sam is a stoic kid, so he will be fine, ' he said.

"We found thousands of little mite-type creatures in our net". But once he walked out from the water, his legs were bleeding profusely and were covered with sea bugs.

Sam's father Jarrod chose to return to the beach the following night armed with a pool net full of meat and managed to captured dozens of tiny bug-like creatures.

A video he took shows dozens of bugs in a tray of water devouring chunks of meat. "They've called a number of people, whether it's toxicity experts or marine exerts and other medics around Melbourne at least. yep, no one [knows]".

SYDNEY | An australian teenager is out of a night swim in the ocean with feet and ankles in blood, a mystery that doctors have struggled to explain why, but probably due to small crustaceans.

He added: "We've brought them home and they've just attached themselves to this meat". "It was just unlucky", she said in a statement.

"At night, the little amphipods, these little tiny crustaceans, they all swarm into your light".
