  • Apple capping new iPhones' wireless charging to 7.5W

The company's massive new campus, featuring a circular office building one mile in circumference, is still under construction, but if the 1,000-seat auditorium can be finished in time, the 10th-anniversary iPhone would make for the flawless opening event. It's the showcase for the next year in their mobile strategy, which usually involves two new devices to hopefully wow the crowd. And Apple is gearing up to celebrate the occasion with the iPhone 8 which is slated to be a landmark device in the history of the smartphone. According to a report by The New York Times, the citing sources, has appeared claiming "the premium model will be priced at around $999", nearly $350 more than the standard iPhone available today. WSJ cites "people briefed on its plans" who provided the date of the event as well as information about a possible venue, but did not offer any further specifics on what would be launched.

Apple is expected to introduce three new iPhones as well as several new Apple Watch models. The iPhone 8 could hit shelves soon after the official launch event on September 12. The bigger news is the third device.

Apart from a full-frontal OLED display with zero bezels, other ways the upcoming iPhone 8 would be distinctive is the inclusion of an innovative 3D face cam that would make the owner's face serve as the password. The report added that on all the sides, it would also reduce bezel sizes to just 4 mm and feature a vertically aligned rear camera.

The event is likely set to be confirmed soon, so if you're looking forward to an upgrade this year it's only days away at this point. Critics claim the device will help Samsung fully recover its tainted image from the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7, whose production was suspended a year ago over faulty batteries. So, Apple might not be able to release the iPhone 8 in September.

Lately, analysts have reported on the possible failure in the supply of the new iPhone, because of difficulties in manufacture, however, the expected announcement is in line with previous iPhone launches.
