  • Train Derails At London Waterloo, Causing Huge Delays

Public transport in London was further disrupted when a passenger train crashed into buffers at King's Cross station and Holborn Tube station was evacuated because of a fire alert.

SWT and Network Rail has strongly advised customers to not travel on the network on Tuesday, urging passengers to find alternative routes.

In London for the day, there were two accidents with trains - one at kings Cross, another train derailed at the station of Waterloo.

"There are no injuries to passengers or staff and a very limited service is running to and from Waterloo, which is expected for the rest of today".

Three people had to be checked over by paramedics but did not need to go to hospital, London Ambulance Service confirmed.

A South West Trains service is reported to have collided with a freight train at Waterloo this morning.

The train partly left the tracks as it was pulling away from a platform at low speed at 05:40 BST, Network Rail said.

More as we get it. "An investigation to establish the cause of the incident is underway". It would not be appropriate to speculate on the cause of the incident at this time.

It said "major disruption" between Waterloo and Vauxhall stations was expected until 1pm.

What does this mean for passengers?

It brought fresh woe to travellers who are already suffering as a result of the busy station's upgrade works, with 10 of the 25 platforms closed until August 24.

The points failure is stopping SWT from using one of five lines into and out of the station, National Rail said.

Wandsworth Town, Wimbledon and Putney now have a queueing system in place to deal with the number of passengers on platforms.

SWT services will be gradually reintroduced on Wednesday morning where possible.
