Liverpool Fail With Fresh Offer For Arsenal Target Thomas Lemar

  • Wenger believes Jack Wilshere reacted in a natural way to a poor tackle from Matthew Smith

Based on Liverpool's valuation of Origi, it's a deal would be worth around £90M to the Ligue 1 side, and according to The Liverpool Echo's James Pearce there is hope it will be enough to convince Monaco to sell after previously also rejecting an Arsenal bid of around £55M for Lemar.

However, Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol confirmed that Lemar won't be moving to Arsenal in the summer transfer window as Monaco close the door on potential exits.

Arsenal had been in talks to sign Lemar all summer and are believed to have had a £30m offer rejected last month while Barcelona were also understood to be tracking the player.

Monaco are determined not to sell the 21-year-old French global during this window having already seen Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva depart and Kylian Mbappe being linked with PSG but Liverpool intend to test their resolve.

Liverpool entered the summer knowing they needed midfield reinforcements, and Lemar would arrive to fill that long established need rather than to allow Coutinho's subsequent departure.
