Taylor Swift sues Denver DJ for fondling her

  • Taylor Swift might have to show up in a federal court in Denver on Monday

Mueller often appeared to be reading documents while Swift watched the proceedings closely, occasionally conferring with her counsel. The man said he's not necessarily a fan, "but her music is catchy and it's good vibes". He and his girlfriend were escorted out of the arena and a member of Swift's team called his boss.

Mueller sued Swift, claiming she had falsely accused him and cost him his job at Denver radio station KYGO-FM.

He says Swift's team told Mueller's bosses at a country music station, and he was sacked from his DJ position.

Taylor Swift made an appearance at a courthouse in Denver on Monday as jury selection began for a case that will pit the pop star against radio DJ David Mueller.

There will be no alternates.

- Shannon Melcher, Mueller's girlfriend at the time, will testify about standing on the other side of Swift when the photo was taken, and to Mueller's character.

They must be present for the rest of the trial.

One of the key pieces of evidence is a photo obtained by TMZ (which is sealed by the court) in which Mueller is posing with Swift, his hand behind her back right at butt-level. He denies that anything inappropriate happened.

Mueller's suit was filed first, followed by Swift's countersuit - in which she's claiming damages of only $1.

However, Swift noted in a deposition that the alleged incident was far from entertaining. According to People, the 27-year-old was on hand while potential jurors were interviewed and screened at the courthouse.

Security is tight at Denver federal court for the start of a civil case pitting Taylor Swift against a former disc jockey she accuses of groping her.

A man talks a photo of the sign outside Alfred A. Arraj Courthouse on August 7, 2017 in Denver.

In his opening statement, Baldridge declared that his client is "absolutely certain" that she was sexually assaulted by Mueller during the photo op, reports Associated Press.

"I think that too often we see women who don't have all of the power and influence of Taylor Swift assume that sexual harassment is the price of a paycheck", Farrell said.

Swift doesn't have to be in court for jury selection, which is expected to end Tuesday.

Swift and Mueller are both expected to testify in the case, along with Mueller's former boss and members of Swift's entourage. He's seeking up to $3 million in damages.

Swift claims Mueller grabbed her on the buttock.

Jury selection is to start Monday.

The photo of that meet-and-greet, which was leaked a year ago and shown in court on Tuesday, will be a central piece of evidence in the trial. Court documents indicate it is unlikely that either side will settle.
