  • Orr received a 35-year prison sentence

SC police officer Quincy Smith was shot multiple times by a suspect he was attempting to question, and the entire dramatic, shocking encounter was captured on a tiny camera in the officer's glasses.

Orr had been found guilty of attempted murder and possession a weapon while committing a violent crime.

A violent attack on a SC police officer a year ago was caught on a small camera attached to the officer's glasses, and that footage helped put away a suspect in an attempted murder case.

The story began on New Year's Day in 2016 when Smith was dispatched to an attempted robbery at a convenience store. According to 14th Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone, Smith called out to the man, identified as Malcolm Antwan Orr, ordering him to stop.

Bullets broke two bones in Smith's arm, severed a vein in his neck, and passed through his upper torso.

-Smith later said it was the best $30 he's ever spent.

The officer gave Orr one more final warning that he would be forced to use a Taser if he didn't comply with his demands.

Smith can be heard on the recording telling an emergency dispatcher, "Tell my family that I love them".

Officer Smith has since recovered from his injuries. At least two of the rounds were fired as he lay on the ground, officials said. "Take your hands out of your pocket". He was sentenced to 35 years in prison, according to the video.

As shots continue to ring out, Smith runs back to his cruiser and radios for help.

However, Smith suddenly noticed the man put his hand in the pocket that suggested that he was carrying a weapon.

But Smith said he forgives Orr - and even prays for him and his family.

Smith tells a dispatcher he thinks he's been hit in the neck and that his left arm is broken. I don't know. Where are you shot at?

"Stay with me", the bystander pleads. A paramedic removes Smith's glasses and moves them aside as Thompkins speaks with another officer as they develop a plan to pursue Orr.

Smith is still on medical leave, but he told WJCL that he wants to return to the department by the start of next year.
