In a horrific incident, a 19-year-old son of an income tax officer, who was allegedly kidnapped last week was found dead near a Bengaluru lake on Friday. They forced Sharath to ask his parents to pay Rs 50 lakh for his freedom and sent that recording to his parents on WhatsApp. They had first dumped the body in Rachenahalli lake, India Today reported. Soon after, Vishal visited Sharath's house to console the family.
In the same video, Sharath also told his parents that the kidnappers looked like terrorists and also threatened to kidnap his sister. The police exhumed the body, conducted a post-mortem and handed the body over to the family.
Vishal said during the confession that when he and his accomplices learnt of the police's involvement, they kept Sharath in a auto and moved around the city, the police said. They tied more stones to the body and put it back in the lake. On the third day, they saw the body floating in the water.

Vishal and his accomplices had hatched a plot on September 10 to kidnap Sharath and demand a ransom of Rs 50 lakh to make "quick money and settle in life", police said.
The abductors killed him after realising that his father has filed a police complaint. Vishal lured Sharath, who had a craze for bikes, into the trap on the pretext of going on a ride on a high-end bike. The police were sceptical because except the video, the kidnappers had tried to contact with the family. The police has, so far, not released any statement about the motivation behind the kidnapping and how he was murdered.
