  • Anissa Weier left talks to her attorney Maura Mc Mahon during jury selection in the trial to determine 15-year-old Weier's competency at Waukesha County Courthouse Monday Sept 11 2017 in Waukesha

After a full day of deliberations, which lasted until late Friday night, a jury in Waukesha County found that Anissa Weier was mentally ill when she and a friend attacked another girl, leaving her to die in the woods.

Anissa Weier egged on friend Morgan Geyser as she attacked Payton Leutner so the pair could avoid the wrath of supernatural character Slenderman.

But she claims she was mentally ill during the attack and not responsible for her actions.

Weier, now 15, already pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree intentional homicide in a deal with prosecutors in August and she could now be sent to a mental institution for up to 25 years, although a three-year term had been suggested in the deal.

If her plea was rejected, prosecutors would have recommended a sentence of 10 years in prison and an additional 10 years of extended supervision.

Mr Van Rybroek's expert testimony matched that of another psychologist who said Weier and Geyser had a shared delusion about Slender Man. She was taken to hospital where doctors said she was 'millimetres from death'. "There've been consequences for three years, and it will continue one way or the other". The state said Weier complied with the Slender Man story and the murder plot for the sake of her friendship with the co-defendant.

She added: 'This sounds insane, because it is. Geyser, who is accused of doing the stabbing, pleaded not guilty, and her trial is scheduled to begin October 9.

The pair bonded over their obsession with Slender Man with Weier believing the mythical character could read her mind and would kill her or her family if she talked about him.

Ismail was believed to be the mastermind behind the terror attack. "This operation is a result of people's prayers". After the death Abu Qasim, Abu Dujana took charge and then you had Abu Ismail in-charge of the LeT.

One of the girl's former classmates, who was also interested in Slender Man, told the court she had discovered how to become the character's servant - by killing a friend.

Anissa Weier (l.) and Morgan Geyser are accused in the brutal Slender Man attack.

Geyser, who did the stabbing, will go on trial next month.

Weier's attorney, Joseph Smith Jr., asked why Weier, a good student, did not recognize that the belief in Slender Man and his powers to kill them or their families was a delusion.

Instead, Weier told Geyser to do it. "Go berserk", was the command, Mr Osborne said.

Both Weier and Geyser were charged with being a party to attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

But she also pleaded not guilty due to mental illness of defect, setting up the trial on her mental status.
