The Foreign Office Thursday stated that the USA can not scapegoat Pakistan for its failures in Afghanistan, rejecting comments by a top United States military official regarding Pakistan's contribution to the war against terrorism. According to the reports, the meeting noted with appreciation that both the prime minister and Foreign Minister Khwaja Muhammad Asif had fully and forcefully conveyed hurt and injured sentiments of the Pakistani nation over the US President's recent tirade in their meetings with the US Vice-President and senior officials on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in NY last month.
During the meeting, the two top diplomats also discussed the importance of partnering together to establish peace and prosperity in Pakistan.

The secretary of state added: "So, we think there is an opportunity for us to strengthen that relationship". So it really is a regional approach and Pakistan is critical, I think, to the long-term stability of the region, " Tillerson said, adding, "Our approach to South Asia, specifically Afghanistan, is building relations with India and Pakistan to stamp out terrorism and support the Afghan government in providing security for their home people".
Pakistan's relation with the United States is "extraordinarily important", he said. "It is India who is using afghan soil with the help of its nexus comprising RAW and terrorist outfits to carry out terrorist activities inside Pakistan, capturing and confessions of spy commander Kalbhushan Yadav remains no secret", he said. And, these visits will be followed by visits by himself and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Mr Asif had pointed out that Pakistan was winning its war against terrorism, and in contrast to other countries, the incidence of terrorism in Pakistan had seen a marked decline.
Pakistan's Ambassador to US Aizaz Chaudhry accompanied Foreign Minister Asif during the meeting. He added that future stability of Pakistan was an important element of the U.S. strategy.
