The Foreign Office Thursday stated that the USA can not scapegoat Pakistan for its failures in Afghanistan, rejecting comments by a top United States military official regarding Pakistan's contribution to the war against terrorism. According to the reports, the meeting noted with appreciation that both the prime minister and Foreign Minister Khwaja Muhammad Asif had fully and forcefully conveyed hurt and injured sentiments of the Pakistani nation over the US President's recent tirade in their meetings with the US Vice-President and senior officials on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in NY last month.

During the meeting, the two top diplomats also discussed the importance of partnering together to establish peace and prosperity in Pakistan.

Replying to a question he said that India always leveled baseless allegations on Pakistan to divert world's attention from the atrocities and state terrorism it was carrying out in occupied Kashmir.

Speaking to Shahzeb Khanzada, the anchor of Geo News show 'Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, Asif said he informed his USA counterpart Tillerson that Pakistan had fulfilled its responsibilities in the war on terror.

Mr Asif had pointed out that Pakistan was winning its war against terrorism, and in contrast to other countries, the incidence of terrorism in Pakistan had seen a marked decline.

Pakistan's Ambassador to US Aizaz Chaudhry accompanied Foreign Minister Asif during the meeting. He added that future stability of Pakistan was an important element of the U.S. strategy.
