Microsoft sounds the death knell for Windows Phone

The company's Windows 10 chief has tweeted that developing new features and hardware for the Mobile version of the OS was no longer a "focus". Things got better with Windows Phone 8.1 as more Android-like features were added to the platform before Windows 10 Mobile rolled out with a lot of bugs, leading to an unsuitable user experience. Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president in Microsoft's Operating Systems Group, broke the news on Twitter over the weekend.
Of course we'll continue to support the platform. bug fixes, security updates, etc, goal building new features/hw aren't the focus.
Even though Microsoft has reported a fall in Surface PC line and Windows phones revenues, the Redmond-based tech giant is reportedly aiming for new devices called "Surface Phones" and has made its patent public.
When asked by a user whether it is "time to leave Windows Mobile platform", Belfiore tweeted back, "Depends who you are".
Another user noted that when Windows Mobile users switch to iOS or Android, there'll be no more need for Microsoft. It is worth noting that the most of the popular apps aren't developed for Windows platform simply because there aren't many Windows Phone users to cover the costs.
