The video shows her stopping and bending down to look at something, before she appears to wrestle with the shark and picking it up in her arms.

This mother of a family was coming for a swim in the pool, ocean to Oak Park in Cronulla (Australia) when she saw the small shark.

Hatheier told The ABC she's a regular in the waters in Cronulla and when she heard about the shark, she knew she had to act. "I was feeling sorry for him", she said.

While Hatheier was applauded for her bravery, she said she knew Port Jackson sharks are relatively harmless.

The shark became trapped when it rode a wave or ocean surge into the rock pool that is separated from the ocean by a wall.

The video was uploaded to Facebook where it's been viewed more than nine thousand times.
