Bucs' QB Winston Out At Least 2 Weeks With Shoulder Injury

  • Jameis Winston delivered one of the worst pre-game speeches in the history of sports

Winston originally injured the shoulder last month, but aggravated the injury in a loss to the Saints on Sunday.

As quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick gets ready to make his first start as a Buccaneer.

Winston had been dealing with issues in his right shoulder since it was reported that he injured the AC joint in his shoulder in a Week 6 matchup against the Cardinals.

Starting left tackle Donovan Smith also left the game with a knee injury.

2.7 million Canadian fire extinguishers recalled, here's why

Winston completed 7-of-13 passes for 63 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions.

"He's going to be out for the next couple of weeks", coach Dirk Koetter said Monday, when a MRI was performed on Winston, who's thrown for 1,920 yards, 10 touchdowns and six interceptions this season. Most of that production (and all of the TD passes) came in the Week 8 loss to the Buffalo Bills, in which Winston gamely tried to rally the Bucs back but could not.

Sunday was a remarkable day, and not in a good way, for the Tampa Bay quarterback. But if the Bucs keep losing, the smart move - especially in light of Andrew Luck's two-year shoulder pain landing him on IR this season for the Indianapolis Colts - might be to shut Winston down entirely for 2017.

Tampa is expected to activate Ryan Griffin from injured reserve this week and would carry three quarterbacks on the roster.
