Facebook is trying to combat "revenge porn" by encouraging users in Australia to submit their nude photos to a pilot project created to prevent intimate images from being shared without consent. He questions how Facebook will protect that uploaded image from hackers.

Prof Clare McGlynn, from Durham Law School, said that the United Kingdom should establish a similar organisation to Australia's e-safety commission.

Facebook will block the images if they are later uploaded as revenge porn.

She explained: "Revenge porn is becoming such a huge epidemic among young people, it's absolutely disgusting and if there's any way to tackle it then we should take that seriously".

Mike Evans suspended for hit on Marshon Lattimore
The hit, which Evans called "unprofessional", occurred in the third quarter of the Saints' 30-10 win against the Buccaneers. Evans drilled Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore after Lattimore pushed Jameis Winston , who poked him in the head.

Australia is one of four countries participating in a limited global pilot with Facebook that will help prevent intimate images of Australians being posted and shared across Facebook, Messenger, Facebook Groups and Instagram.

Facebook is doing this in partnership with Australian government agency eSafety in order to try to prevent people from sharing intimate images without consent.

"We see many scenarios where maybe photos or videos were taken consensually at one point, but there was not any sort of consent to send the images or videos more broadly", she pointed out. This has a necessary risk built in, but "it's a risk we are trying to balance against the serious, real-world harm that occurs every day when people (mostly women) can't stop NCII from being posted", Facebook security chief Alex Stamos explained on Twitter.

"They're not storing the image, they're storing the link and using artificial intelligence and other photo-matching technologies". "My concern has to do with where those images would then be stored after they've been provided to Facebook", he added. It used this to prevent the image spreading and closed down the majority of accounts reported to it as hosting such images.
