While its tough to maintain an edge when you're getting trounced, one former Pro Bowler believes New York's lack of competitiveness had something to do with the team's stance with McAdoo.

Jenkins was late returning to the team after the bye week, missing a day with an unexcused absence. While head coach Ben McAdoo said at the time that all three were excused for personal reasons, he later explained that he and his staff hadn't heard from Jenkins before the no-show.

The Giants defense allowed 51 points on Sunday against the Rams with Jenkins out. He missed practice last Monday and did not contact the team.

In an attempt to salvage their disastrous season, the Giants also reacquired linebacker Deontae Skinner after he was re-signed and waived by NY earlier this year.

The Giants also waived defensive end Jordan Williams and corner Tim Scott - both of whom played in Sunday's loss. They also placed linebacker Nigel Harris (ribs) on season-ending injured reserve (IR).

Jenkins, 29, recorded an interception for a touchdown against the Denver Broncos on October 15 and has 24 tackles in six games this season. He most recently had a stint on the Raiders' practice squad.
