Security researchers at Bkav Corporation recently announced that they had succeeded in trickingApple'sFace ID concept by using a face mask that was crafted by using a popular 3D printer, a hand-made nose, and certain parts of it designed with a 2D printer. The trouble with facial recognition is that too many humans have defining characteristics that can not be dissected by a machine-we look too similar. BKAV said the potential targets wouldn't be people with average threat models, it would be "billionaires, leaders of major corporations, nation leaders". It also used "special processing on the cheeks and around the face, where there are large skin areas, the firm said".
Bkav, however, claimed to have bypassed the Face ID technology using a mask that features both 2D and 3D components, including 3D printed plastic, a silicone nose, makeup and paper cutouts.
Face ID is not created to be an infalliable system that can't be broken under any circumstance. There's a one in a million chance that there's a random person, somewhere in the world, who can unlock your phone with their face.
Bkav's claims come despite Apple's statement that the engineering team had collaborated with "professional mask makers and make-up artists in Hollywood to protect against these attempts to beat Face ID".
Even Apple had previously admitted the new face ID feature is morefor convenience than absolute security.

Face ID has to be used about every four hours, or else it'll prompt the person to enter a password.
Apple claims the system is impervious to being fooled by photos, impersonators and masks, but a team of hackers claims to have beaten the technology after just a week.
The new technology has passed nearly all the security tests with flying colours; until a security firm called Bkav allegedly created a mask to beat the FaceID.
Security researchers have broken Apple's FaceID security system using a mask they said takes around a few days to make and costs only $150.
Since the iPhone X went on sale on November 3 there have been numerous attempts to hack its Face ID system. FaceTec, a San Diego based software start-up, has also demonstrated that if iPhone X users fall asleep, then their faces can still be used to unlock their handsets.
