An old man captured on camera with tears trickling down his cheeks as he stood outside a State Bank of India branch in Gurgaon to withdraw money as a crowd watched had become the face of the pain many felt in the aftermath of the drastic decision announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 past year.

According to him, GST was a "a hastily imposed and poorly conceptualised" tax that dealt another blow to the economy. He termed the tax reform as bureaucratic and complex. He has chosen to hide behind a shallow, hate-filled political narrative. "It has devastated livelihoods, creating a modern-day Licence Raj", said Gandhi. This has created more jobs in China while India saw a sharp decrease in job creation. When asked about the toil he had to go through because of demonetisation, Lal said he served in the military and dosen't interfere in government work.

Rahul also tweeted a couplet in Hindi that called for attention towards pains suffered by poor in the aftermath of demonetisation.
