Mashable pointed out that there's a direct correlation between restrictive embargoes and poor critic scores on Rotten Tomatoes, even suggesting they expected the film to score just 33 percent. It's important to note - as Rotten Tomatoes becomes increasingly popular - that the percentage it gives isn't a grade of the film's quality, but rather the percentage of critics who gave it a good review. Man of Steel, the 2013 Superman film that kicked off the shared universe, earned a middling 55 percent.
The fact that Justice League is now falling pretty much right in the middle of the road - we've seen it, and thought it was a hot mess, but with some great potential for where the DC universe goes next - surely points out that the movie isn't as bad as critics had initially feared, nor as good as DC fans would have hoped. Conversely, blockbusters with rock bottom scores such as Baywatch (19 percent) and Transformers: The Last Knight (15 percent) faltered domestically over the summer. Director Zack Snyder'sJustice League is on track to rack up an impressive $325 million and $355 million at the worldwide box office over the next few days. Is Justice League the next Avengers, or is it basketball soup?
In theaters now, Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Ciarán Hinds as Steppenwolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

"We are absolutely autonomous, like any news organization", Rotten Tomatoes spokesperson Dana Benson told the Post. Aside from their personal views, the hosts are also tasked to reveal the Tomatometer score for any upcoming big and small screen offerings and this week, it was the DC epic under the spotlight. Plus, there's now no critics consensus on Justice League's Rotten Tomatoes page, so it looks like they're giving it some special treatment.
And second, it looks like Rotten Tomatoes is trying to evolve beyond its role as a review aggregator and toward a role as an active influencer of opinion, becoming not just a landing page but a clearinghouse for opinions about the movies.
