President Trump fires back at father of UCLA basketball player

  • President Trump to La Var Ball I Should Have Left Your Kid in Jail

"Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal". "I'd also like to thank President Trump and the United States government for the help that they provided as well", LiAngelo Ball said.

Of all the things LaVar Ball could have said about President Trump, "Who?" was probably the worst.

President Donald Trump used his Twitter platform Sunday to attack the father of a basketball player released from detention in China. The trio of players did not return to the United States with their team, and were placed on house arrest at their hotel while the police continued their investigation.

In actual U.S. -China relations, Trump back-peddled on his strong anti-China campaign rhetoric, blamed Obama, took shots at "the failing New York Times", broke press precedent by accepting China's ban on questions and totally ignored human rights violations. That's gonna be debated, that's gonna be argued about, but I want to put that on the table: "it sure looks like race-baiting to a lot of people".

Sen. Al Franken to colleagues: Please probe me
I strongly condemn this behavior and the Senate Ethics Committee must open an investigation. She added that she saw Franken a couple of years after the incident occurred, at a USO gala.

Trump, shockingly, was aggrieved that he wasn't getting more appreciation for helping facilitate their release from the country (aka doing his job).

Ball's son, LiAngelo, along with two other members of the UCLA basketball team, were arrested on November 7 for allegedly stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store, and detained in China for questioning.

However, by Sunday remarks LaVar Ball made on ESPN Friday caused the president to change his tune.

"Who?" Ball told ESPN when asked about Trump's role in the situation. "I'm happy with how things were handled". Like I told him, 'They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes.' I'm from L.A. I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses. For better or worse, it's extremely clear that the president loves to watch cable nearly as much as he loves Twitter so he'll no doubt pick up LaVar's response.
