A Saudi-led alliance has lifted a blockade of two key airports in Yemen, broadcaster Al Arabiya reported, amid warnings that millions in the war-torn country could starve without deliveries of food aid.

ADEN-The Saudi-led military coalition fighting against Yemen's Houthi movement will allow the resumption of global commercial flights to the country, a Yemeni government minister said, easing its nationwide blockade. There was no word of any casualties.

This week, UN aid chief Mark Lowcock warned the Security Council (UNSC) that Yemen would face "the largest starvation the world has seen for many decades, with millions of victims", unless the blockade was lifted.

Saudi Arabia has blamed Iran for supplying the rebels with the missile, sparking tensions between the Middle East rivals and fears of a military confrontation.

This comes as Saudi Arabia recently intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Yemen near the capital, Riyadh.

The coalition tightened its blockade on Yemen after the missile was sacked.

Despite the reopening of Wadea, however, and the allowing of limited ships into southern Aden port, United Nations officials say that the Saudi-led coalition is still blocking all of their aid deliveries into the country, continuing the siege.

Yemen's Houthi forces have threatened to shoot down Saudi vessels found anywhere near Red Sea ports controlled by the rebels with the newly launched "underwater" torpedo missiles.

The world body has listed Yemen as the world's number one humanitarian crisis, with 17 million people in need of food, of whom seven million are at risk of starvation.

"The continued closure of borders will only bring additional hardship and deprivation with deadly consequences to an entire population suffering from a conflict that it is not of their own making", they added.
