The 'Gravity' hit-maker tweeted a thank you note shortly after, writing, "Thank you everyone for the well wishes".

The band's next show is on Thursday 7 December and it is still unknown as to whether or not the evening will go ahead as planned. "Love you all dearly".

The singer apologized for having to cancel his concert with Dead & Company in New Orleans.

The group has already completed a series of shows at Philips Arena in Atlanta on November 29, American Airlines Center in Dallas on December 1, and Frank Erwin Center in Austin on December 2.

"We just got the word from John Mayer's camp that unfortunately his doctors don't think it's wise for him to play Alice in Winterland", reads an announcement on the radio station's website.
