  • Whistleblower Michael Flynn Said That Russian Sanctions Would Be

Fired former national security advisor Mike Flynn exalted that a nuclear deal involving Russian Federation was "good to go" just minutes after President Trump took the oath of office, House Oversight panel Democrats said based on a whistleblower's claims.

Mr. Cummings sent the letter to the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Committee, Trey Gowdy, Republican of SC, and asked him to investigate the whistle-blower's claims.

As Trump delivered his inaugural address, says the unnamed whistleblower, Flynn directed Alex Copson, managing director of ACU Strategic Partners, to inform their business partners "to put things in place".

In the letter to Rep. Trey Gowdy, the panel's GOP chairman, Cummings demanded that Gowdy subpoena documents on the nuclear power plan from the White House, Flynn, Copson, their partners and associates, Reuters reported.

The whistle-blower contacted Cummings' office in June, and gave the congressman permission to share his account as part of the committee's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

A lawyer for Mr Flynn, who was sacked after only 24 days as Mr Trump's national security adviser, declined to comment.

"Mike has been putting everything in place for us", Copson reportedly told the whistleblower.

Gowdy said he was referring the matter to the House Intel Committee, on which Gowdy sits.

ACU Strategic Partners issued a statement on Wednesday saying, "No member of ACU received any communication in any form from General Flynn during the presidential campaign, the presidential transition, the inauguration, the period following the inauguration when General Flynn served as national security adviser or subsequent to General Flynn's resignation".

In Flynn's agreement last week to plead guilty to one count of making false statements, prosecutors said that Flynn lied to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents about his discussions on sanctions against Russia with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition.

The company did not respond to a request for comment Wednesday.

In return, the incoming White House would review the Obama sanctions, Flynn told him, according to the court documents filed by special counsel Robert Mueller's office.

Mr Cummings wrote that Mr Mueller's team asked lawmakers to hold off on a public release of this information until certain investigative steps were taken. According to the whistleblower, Copson bragged to the whistleblower on Inauguration Day 2017 that Flynn had told Copson that the Russian Federation sanctions that had been an obstacle to the project pushed by the company will be "ripped up".

Mr Cummings said the source was "authentic, credible, and reliable", and offered to introduce the individual to Mr Gowdy. "I am going to celebrate today".

The whistleblower said during a conversation, Copson described his messages with Flynn and briefly flashed one of the texts, which appeared to have been sent 10 minutes after Trump began speaking.

He added, "This is going to make a lot of very wealthy people".

Mr Copson couldn't be located for comment.
