In response to the United Nations vote, North Korea called the sanctions "an act of war" on Sunday.

Washington D.C. [U.S], Dec 27: The United States on Tuesday sanctioned two North Korean officials for their roles in developing the country's ballistic missile program, the Treasury Department said. The new measures order North Koreans working overseas to return home within two years, and ban almost 90 per cent of refined petroleum exports to the country.

The resolution, which came in response to the November test, seeks to slash exports of refined petroleum products to North Korea by 89 percent.
