  • Toronto Police Say A Man Attacked A Girl On Her Way To School And Cut Off Her Hijab

"What you're doing is really wrong, you should not act like this, and especially, I'm a kid", she said, addressing her attacker.

Akin to a familiar theme before and after the 2016 USA presidential election, an 11-year-old female Toronto grammar school student is claiming a man attempted to cut off her hijab while she was on her way to school this morning.

Afterward, according to Sidhu, the girl noticed a 12-inch cut from the bottom up on the back of her headscarf.

Noman's mother, Saima Samad, was in tears as she described rushing to the school and hugging her daughter.

"I'm just happy she's safe". He said he watched as his sister's attacker again approached her, scissors in hand.

Toronto police commended Khawlah for the way she had handled the incident.

He was last seen wearing glasses, a black hoodie and black trousers.

She said that she felt someone tug her hood from her winter coat down and hack at her light blue scarf with a pair of scissors.

San Diego's flu season: 91 dead, more than 10000 cases
If you've contracted the virus , clean hands regularly, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and avoid sharing germs. That number, is almost double the 11 flu-related deaths reported around the same time previous year in the state.

Toronto District School Board spokesman Ryan Bird says staff contacted police and the girl's parents shortly after she arrived at school.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau talked about the attack during a speech wrapping up a two-day cabinet retreat in London, Ont., on Friday afternoon.

"It's one thing to assault an adult, which is never acceptable, but for this to happen to a child - I can't tell you how horrified we all are", spokeswoman Shari Schwartz-Maltz said.

'In the meantime, we're offering support to the impacted student and her family'. "Canada is an open and welcoming country, and incidents like this can not be tolerated".

"I saw my sister and she was frightened and I was more frightened because I didn't know if she was injured or if he was going to hurt her", Mohammad Zakariya said. "We must stand firm in our support to this young girl who was assaulted simply for wearing a hijab".

The police have not ruled out investigating the incident as a hate crime.

Wynne tweeted: "This is a cowardly act of hatred, and it has no place in Ontario. It does not represent who we are (as Canadians)", Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne said in a Twitter message.

Toronto Mayor John Tory said he was "shocked and appalled" by the incident. "I don't know why he did that, but it's just not Canada". "Intolerance and hate of any kind, including islamophobia, has no place in our city, our province, or our country".
