  • Investors Don't Want To Press'Like Button On Facebook's Twist In Newsfeed

Facebook recently announced it will be changing its feed and algorithms so that news from publishers and posts from businesses will be relegated in favor of posts about your neighbor's cat.

If the brand has simply been publishing content for the sake of posting and frequency, it is now more urgent to revise its strategy to that of true engagement and interaction.

Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the shift in the configuration of the News Feed on Thursday, saying it would reduce engagement by users at first but would lead to their improved "well-being".

"We expect competition for views and engagement within Facebook to increase and this is great news as the quality of content users see in their Facebook news feed will definitely improve", he said.

The only positive thing to come of all of this is that it may open the eyes of our elected officials, businesses and the American people who will now see Facebook for what it is: An unscrupulous media company that needs to be regulated.

"I'm changing the goal I give our product teams from focusing on helping you find relevant content to helping you have more meaningful social interactions", said Zuckerberg. ‘But too often today, watching video, reading news or getting a page update is just a passive experience. This may also be a means of increasing Facebook's commercial value.

‘As we make these updates, Pages may see their reach, video watch time and referral traffic decrease.

The company hopes that with less media content stressing people over, users will no longer perceive the site as a source of stress.

Mosseri also explained that "Pages making posts that people generally don't react to or comment on could see the biggest decreases in distribution". While this Business Insider article focuses on bad actors, election manipulation, and fake news, I did catch an interview last week in which McNamee fully discussed the addictive nature of Facebook (autostart video warning) usage and that is was designed into the platform purposefully and he now regrets his actions as being part of it. Those that use ‘engagement-bate to encourage discussion will be demoted and shown lower in the news feed.

If you're not seeing our posts in your feed then make sure that you're following our page and visit the Facebook Page, and our Website, to make sure that you're not missing out on anything! She added that with less public content to be expected from the Facebook changes, it will be interesting to observe if Facebook will be implementing any new ways for businesses to reach their audiences through the platform. This isn't because of something that A Little Bit of Stone (ALBOS) has done, it's because of a Facebook algorithm change (the bit that decides what you see).
