After moving into Whole Foods in 2017, Amazon may be considering expanding their brick-and-mortar presence into the void left by Toys "R" Us.

Strategic Marks LLC which acquired the KB Toys name plans to relaunch the business. KB Toys is counting on it.

Back in late January, the company announced plans to close just 170 Toys R Us and Babies R Us stores.

Toys R Us stores in all these global markets are now open and serving customers.

Toys R Us is still hoping to keep 200 American stores open in hopes a buyer out of Canada is interested in taking them over as part of a package deal to sell its Canadian stores. The plan includes airport locations, worldwide expansion and a new, smaller NY flagship. reportedly looking into the possibility of expanding its retail stronghold by buying up some stores from bankrupt Toys "R" Us Inc., according to a Bloomberg report. Last week, two job openings were posted for the Warwick location.

Simon Thomas, joint administrator and partner at Moorfields, said: "It is with great regret that we have made the hard decision to make 98 people redundant at the company's distribution centre in Coventry".

Toys R Us abruptly filed for bankruptcy liquidation last week after years of increasingly sluggish sales.

That could pose headwinds, too, for the revival of KB Toys, once the second-to-last remaining national chain of toy stores. It soon ballooned into one of the country's biggest toy retailers.
