Saraswat said an appeal against the conviction too will be filed soon after going through the verdict.

Bollywood star Salman Khan arrives at the airport after he was granted bail in Jodhpur, Rajasthan state, April 7.

The bail has been granted on a surety of Rs 50,000. Although this gives the star another chance to wriggle out of the sentence, it still raises the question - what would happen to brand Salman Khan ultimately?

Salman Khan has now spent two nights in Jodhpur Central Jail after he was convicted on Thursday.

In a huge relief to Bollywood actor Salman Khan, the Jodhpur Court on Wednesday acquitted him in a 19-year-old Arms Act Case. Later, Preity Zinta, who has acted with Salman Khan in several films, also paid him a visit.

Along with Khan - who was last seen in the movie Tiger Zinda Hai - actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre and Tabu, were among the six co-accused in the case.

The Rajasthan government has challenged his acquittal in the Chinkara deer case in the Supreme Court.

Salman Khan reaches Jodhpur airport after being released from Jodhpur Central Jail.

The Indian chapter of animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has condemned the decision of a Jodhpur Court to grant bail to Bollywood actor Salman Khan in connection with the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

Salman Khan was found guilty April 5 of killing endangered Indian wildlife almost two decades ago, a prosecutor said.

The bail hearing for Salman Khan has begun.

For the past 20 years, the witnesses from the Bishnoi community - which reveres the blackbuck - had maintained that Salman killed the two blackbucks.

The sessions court yesterday reserved its decision on the Bollywood superstar's bail plea for today and had called for the records of the case from the trial court. So, as the guilty walks free and returns to his life of stardom and charity work while the blackbucks and their protectors cry in the wild, need we ask who is being human?
