Authorities say Zimmerman threatened a private investigator who's working on a documentary about the Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin case.

Zimmerman is accused of repeatedly threatening and harassing Dennis Warren between December 16 and December 25 of past year, the sheriff's office said.

The private investigator, Dennis Warren, contacted Zimmerman in September 2017 about the planned documentary, according to court documents.

Warren told investigators that he received 55 phone calls, 67 text messages, 36 voicemails and 27 emails from Zimmerman between December 16, 2017, and Christmas Day.

A warrant said Zimmerman screamed profanities at a Seminole County sergeant who called him on January 3, saying: "What are you calling me for you [expletive] whore?"

George Zimmerman again is facing legal troubles, this time accused of repeatedly threatening and harassing a man assisting on a documentary about the 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was acquitted on a second-degree murder charge after claiming he shot Martin in self-defense, sparking protests and outrage worldwide.

Police note how the threats are directly related to Zimmerman's family members being asked if they would participate in the forthcoming documentary. In a two-hour period, Warren allegedly received 21 phone calls, 38 text messages, and seven voicemails from Zimmerman, the probable-cause affidavit said.

The sheriff's deputies confirmed it was Zimmerman who was on the phone and requested he be charged, according to court documents.

Warren revealed to police that he had contacted Zimmerman to see if he would be interested in being featured in the project.
